The History of Alfreton Hall

The history of the Alfreton Hall estate dates back to the Georgian times. It was once the ancestral home of the wealthy Palmer-Morewood family, who brought both prosperity and employment to the local community.

In the 18th century a new Hall was built and it was extended twice during the 19th century.

Sadly part of the original 18th century Hall was demolished in 1964, however the remaining East Wing and Main Hall is a testimony to its glorious past. Alfreton Hall has been lovingly restored by its owners to its former glory.

It has retained much of its character, personality and style and it boasts many of its original features including hand carved Italian ceilings, oak panelled walls, original oak flooring, large sash windows, grand staircases, decorative fireplaces and imposing columns. This combination of tradition and quality create a lasting impression on anyone who visits Alfreton Hall.
